What's in The Ritual Set
The Ritual Set contains three pieces — the minimum correct setup for traditional matcha preparation at home:
- Bamboo Matcha Whisk (Chasen) — 100 prongs, handmade. The tool that most determines how your matcha turns out. The fine prongs emulsify the powder into water, producing the smooth froth and clean texture that no spoon or milk frother can replicate.
- Bamboo Scoop (Chashaku) — the traditional measuring tool. One level scoop per serving keeps the ratio consistent and the flavour predictable, without scales or guesswork.
- Ceremonial Grade Matcha — 30g. Shade-grown, stone-ground, and made to be drunk plain: deep natural sweetness, rich umami, a silky texture, and a long clean finish.
Why Ceremonial Grade?
Ceremonial Grade Matcha is the traditional standard — the grade made to be whisked with warm water and experienced without additions. It is a meaningful step above everyday drinking matcha: more layered, more refined, with the kind of flavour complexity that rewards the five minutes of preparation it asks for.
It is also excellent in lattes, for those who prefer it that way. But the most direct way to understand what ceremonial grade means is to prepare it simply, with warm water, and taste it on its own terms. The Ritual Set is built for exactly that.
Who The Ritual Set Is For
The Ritual Set works well in two situations:
- Starting properly — for someone ready to go beyond supermarket matcha or café lattes and make it well at home, with the right grade and the right tools from the first cup
- As a gift — the combination of powder and tools takes someone directly into the experience, rather than leaving them to work out what they need separately
How to Prepare Your First Bowl
- Measure approximately 2g of Ceremonial Grade Matcha into a bowl using the bamboo scoop
- Add 70–80ml of water at 70–80°C — not boiling
- Whisk in a brisk W or M motion for 20–30 seconds, keeping the chasen near the surface
- When a fine, even froth covers the surface — drink
For a matcha latte, whisk the matcha with 2–3 tablespoons of warm water first, then add warm or cold milk of your choice.
