What's in The Beginner's Set
The Beginner's Set contains exactly what you need to start making good matcha at home — nothing more, nothing less:
- Daily Grade Matcha — 30g. A smooth, naturally sweet, low-bitterness matcha designed for everyday use. Works equally well as a hot latte, an iced drink, or whisked plain with warm water.
- Bamboo Matcha Whisk (Chasen) — 100 prongs, handmade. The single tool that most determines how matcha tastes at home. Emulsifies the powder into water properly — producing froth and texture that a spoon or standard frother cannot match.
- Bamboo Scoop (Chashaku) — the traditional measuring scoop. One level scoop per serving removes the guesswork and makes every cup consistent from the start.
Why Daily Grade Matcha Is the Right Starting Point
Daily Grade Matcha is specifically designed for everyday enjoyment. It is made from high-quality, shade-grown tea leaves — which gives it a vivid green colour, a smooth and approachable flavour, and no harsh bitterness. It is not a compromise powder. It is the right choice when the goal is to build a matcha habit rather than to master a ceremonial preparation.
The key difference between Daily Grade and cheap supermarket matcha comes down to leaf quality:
- Premium shade-grown leaves produce a vivid, bright green powder — not pale, yellow, or dull
- The texture is ultra-fine and silky — not coarse or gritty
- The flavour is smooth and naturally sweet — not bitter or harsh
If you have tried matcha before and found it unpleasant, there is a good chance it was a lower grade. This is a different product.
The Tools That Make the Difference
Matcha has a reputation for being difficult to get right at home. With the right tools, it is not. The two most common causes of disappointing home matcha are:
- No whisk — using a spoon or frother results in clumps, uneven mixing, and poor texture
- Inconsistent measuring — too much matcha turns bitter; too little tastes thin and flat
The Beginner's Set solves both. The 100-prong bamboo chasen produces the smooth, frothy result you would get in a matcha café. The bamboo scoop gives you the same ratio every time.
How to Make Your First Matcha Latte
- Measure 1–2 level scoops (approx. 2g) of Daily Grade Matcha into a bowl or cup
- Add 2–3 tablespoons of warm water at around 70–80°C
- Whisk in a brisk W or M motion for 20–30 seconds until smooth and lightly frothy
- Add warm or cold milk of your choice — oat milk pairs particularly well
- Sweeten lightly if preferred
