What's in the Matcha Discovery Set
The Matcha Discovery Set contains all three matcha grades in the My Infusa range — one pouch of each, in a single order:
- Daily Grade Matcha — 30g. Smooth, naturally sweet, low in bitterness. The most versatile grade: works in lattes, iced drinks, and plain whisked preparation. The everyday choice.
- Ceremonial Grade Matcha — 30g. Shade-grown, stone-ground. Deep natural sweetness, rich umami, silky texture — an umami that holds up whether you drink it plain or in a latte.
- Reserve Matcha — 30g. First-harvest, ultra-premium. The most complex and refined grade in the range: profound sweetness, a full-bodied, rounded umami, an ultra-silky texture, and a long finish that develops over several sips.
Understanding the Three Grades
Not all matcha is the same — and the difference is not simply a matter of price. Grade reflects leaf quality, harvest timing, growing conditions, and production method, and the result in the cup is genuinely different at each level.
| Daily Grade | Ceremonial Grade | Reserve | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Lattes, everyday use | Traditional preparation | The finest ritual |
| Bitterness | Low | Very low | Negligible |
| Straight with water | Good | Outstanding | Outstanding |
How to Taste the Grades
The most direct way to understand the difference between grades is to prepare each one the same way and taste them back-to-back. Start with Daily Grade — it sets the baseline for smooth, approachable matcha. Move to Ceremonial Grade and notice the increased depth: the umami is fuller, the sweetness more pronounced, the finish longer. Then try Reserve Matcha, prepared simply with warm water. The step-change from Ceremonial to Reserve is where first-harvest quality becomes unmistakably apparent.
For all three, use water at 70–80°C and approximately 2g of powder per serving. A bamboo whisk produces the best result — the Matcha Discovery Set pairs well with the Beginner's Set or the Japanese Matcha Tea Set if you need tools alongside.
Who the Discovery Set Is For
The Matcha Discovery Set works in three situations:
- Genuinely new to matcha — you have heard about it and want to understand what it actually is, across the quality spectrum, before committing to a single grade
- Already drinking one grade — you know Daily or Ceremonial and are curious about what the next level tastes like without buying a full separate pouch to find out
- As a gift — the most complete introduction to matcha possible. Appropriate for anyone from a complete beginner to a regular matcha drinker who has not explored the full range
Add the Right Tools
To prepare all three grades properly, you need a bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) and a measuring scoop (chashaku) at minimum. The Beginner's Set or the Ritual Set include both alongside a matcha powder — or the Japanese Matcha Tea Set provides the full four-piece setup.
